Monday is mufti day !

As part of 'Movember', the school is having a day when the children can where their own clothes to school and we ask that they make a gold coin donation. This donation will go towards a charity that specialises in men's mental health.

They are also invited to wear a moustache ! Maybe over the weekend they could design and make their own one!

Isaac's thoughts about the senior show

I'm thinking about everything in it. It was all good. The favourite part was the butterflies because they were so colourful.

Jasmine's thoughts about the senior show

The ballerinas looked pretty. I liked seeing the Grandma because she was really funny!

Zoe's thoughts about the senior show

I thought about the ballerinas that they were beautiful! I also liked seeing the Haka. It wasn't scary even though it was in the dark to start with.

Week 4 newsletter

Week 5 next week, is it just me or it this term going really fast?

We have been doing lots of excellent learning in the last two weeks!

The children are all settling in really well and making lots of great friends, not only in room 3 but in the other new entrant and year 1 classes.

The books are being moved from the old to the new library next week and so we will not be going to the library next Thursday. I can keep any library books that come back to school so that they are ready to be returned the following week. Therefore, room 3 will be able to choose a book from our class browsing box next week which might be something they have already read.

Room 3 would really appreciate some construction materials and bits ‘n bobs such as glitter, shiny card/paper, balls of cotton wool etc for our Christmas activities.

What's coming up?

What a fantastic first two weeks !!

It has been a wonderful couple of weeks. With all the other things going on (Commonwealth Games, strong aftershocks, release teachers) I'm really impressed with how well the children are all settling in. They are fantastic !

I will be using this blog to let you know what we have been doing at school and learning about, as well as uploading photos of room 3 and the class newsletters.

I hope you all have a lovely long 'labour' weekend and look forward to seeing you back at school on Tuesday, when room 3 will become 9 children as Tuesday will be the first day for Nova and Isaac. I'm sure room 3 will be lovely and welcome these new children, helping them to get around the school and showing them what to do.

Enjoy your weekend!

Olly

Hi everyone, Olly is doing really well with his reading (especially when he looks at the words, sounds them out and joins the sounds together - rather than just guessing !). He also writes really good stories - especially about his accident at home. Love Mum and Dad.

Will

Wow - what fantastic learning in Team 3!!!! Thank you Will for letting us come into your classroom and share the wonderful maths, writing and Maori you have been doing. We loved seeing your cool calendar art and my favourite was when you read a story to everyone. Keep up your great work Will!!!!!

Lewes

Lewes loves school and enjoys learning new things and spending time with his friends. We are thrilled at how well he is doing.

Andy

Today I showed my parent about what I have learned in the school.

I wan fun^ ^

Alexander Acton Adams

Alex is making great progress with his reading and recognising words. We are very proud of you! He seems to be naturally adept at maths.

Bella F

Bella enjoys reading and playing with her friends. She loves drawing and is excited to come to school each day.

charlotte Kirwan

"It is fun at school!" That's what Charlotte says. She seems to have taken to it like a duck to water, making friends and clearly enjoying her experience so far. We are all so pleased to be part of such a lovely class and school environment. It's been a great start to what will hopefully be a long and wonderful relationship with learning.

Phoebe Young

Goodness Phoebe, you are doing so well at school! You are now reading the yellow books with very little assistance, you know all of your shapes and how many sides they have. You also know your Mihi very well and can recite it unassisted. I loved your creative storywriting as well. Comment from Phoebe: i like doing my storywriting.
